Misery's Company
Perhaps that old saying is true - "misery loves company" ? If so - why? And how can a chronically ill person manage to attract any company at all? After all, no one likes a party pooper - and those of us with invisible chronic illness can really poop the party!
Over the years, I've found it necessary to adopt my tongue 'n cheek persona to help me cope with years of chronic illness. Being DR. Wiseass has given me opportunities to view my illness from a 'wider' perspective, as well as granted me a greater understanding about various healing modalities - especially the healing power of laughter.

With hope & enthusiasm, I recently jumped back into the Lyme disease community with both feet; at least that was my hope - to be a contributing member of a supportive online community regarding the disease which has "officially" been the bane of my existence for almost a decade - although I'm quite sure I've had this disease for twice as long or more. However, my entrance to Facebook, was met with mixed results. It is due to the negative response I received from several Facebook members, that I offer these Frequently-Asked-Questions.

In society today, it seems in an effort to communicate MORE - we are talking LESS. This is no doubt due in large part to our ever-increasing reliance upon technology. DR. Wiseass like this because - not only does writing allow you the opportunity to collect your thoughts before spouting them, it also serves as a nice record of just what stupid-ass thing you ended up writing after all! But that's not all - read on!
In our "gotta see it to believe it" world, many patients with chronic illness often come under ridicule and scrutiny from their healthy family and friends because most chronic illnesses have no outward signs. Unfortunately, many people are under the impression that all disabled patients use some sort of assistive technology. However, statistics prove otherwise. Statistics prove that just because an illness, or a disability is invisible - it does NOT indicate it is imaginary!
